• Ukraine's air force said on Sunday that Russia attacked the country with 298 drones and 69 missiles overnight, one of the largest aerial attacks of the conflict. It said it downed 45 missiles and 266 drones.

• Casualties: Ukraine reports 12 dead, 70-plus injured across Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Mykolaiv after seven hours of alerts.

• Prisoner swap: Day-two of the Istanbul-brokered exchange saw 307 service members returned on each side. A third tranche also took place on Sunday, with 303 people being swapped by each side.

• Peace document: Moscow says a draft long-term settlement memorandum will be handed to Kyiv once the swap concludes.

Air-raid sirens wailed from midnight to dawn as Ukrainian defenders raced to intercept the conflict's heaviest sky-borne assault: radar data showed incoming waves from Russia's Bryansk and Kursk regions, followed by low-flying drones from the Sea of Azov. Kyiv's air-force command claims 266 drones were shot down or jammed and 45 missiles destroyed.

Russia has yet to comment on the attack.

The strike capped four consecutive nights of triple-digit drone salvos, a tactic analysts say aims to exhaust Ukraine's air-defence magazines ahead of summer offensives.

Hours before the swap, buses rolled into Chernihiv and Belgorod carrying prisoners released under the "1,000-for-1,000" scheme forged at May 16 talks in Istanbul. Saturday's swap mirrored Friday's first phase-390 combatants and civilians each-drawing rare praise from both Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Early on Sunday, Russia said it faced a Ukrainian drone attack and intercepted or destroyed around 100 of the unmanned Ukrainian weapons including some aimed at Moscow.

The Defence Ministry reported its air defence units intercepted or destroyed 95 Ukrainian drones over a four-hour period. That included two near Moscow but most were over Russia's central and southern regions.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters the draft cease-fire memorandum "is almost ready" and will be sent "immediately after the final swap," but Ukrainian officials insist missile barrages must halt before any paper is considered.
